Scaling Up the IK Platform

The development of platforms able of handling transparently distribution, heterogeneity and multi-language software in the framework of an object model has been perceived as a promising direction to develop distributed applications. We wanted to develop a platform in which programmers of distributed applications could beneet from a coherent and uniform object model, as in traditional OO languages. We also wanted to test and experiment an environment where transparency was the default option , removing distribution and persistent issues from application code. This position paper focus on the s-calability of the IK platform.
